Sunday morning we were packed up and into the Bungle Bungle Caravan Park for our helicopter flight over the Bungle Bungles. I was hoping for the back seat but once again I was relegated to the front as Bazza being heavier than me needed to be in the back. Bazz was having a good old chuckle as he new after the last flight we did over Kakadu that I was not keen on the glass bubble and NO door. We had a lovely blue sky with a distant haze, I felt more relaxed this time and of course needed to take all the photo's as Bazz had trouble with his camera, I think he does it on purpose so he can hold on with two hands. Travelling at a height of 2300 feet we had impressive views of the Bungle Bungle Range, spectacular sandstone beehive domes, narrow gorges and soaring cliffs.
Back on the ground again it was off to Mary Pool camping area 180klm east of Fitzroy Crossing. When we arrived there were already a large number of vans set up there, we were lucky that a tour bus was going to be leaving that was currently parked along the river bank with a vista of the Margaret River. The tour driver just happened to be the one I had opened a gate for earlier in the day, so he suggested to us to hang around until they moved then we could have that spot. It was such a lovely scenic spot just a little noisy with thousands of white cockatoos that settled in the trees during the day, but at least as the sun was setting they would fly off to their roost for the night. We spent two nights there then by 7.45am Tuesday we headed off to Fitzroy Crossing arriving here at 9.30am.
The Fitzroy Crossing Resort Caravan Park is like an oasis in the bush, lovely clean amenities and large grassy sites. Bazz has even been able to splash some water over the van and car just to get rid of some of the dust. Lucky for us we decided to go out to the Geikie Gorge yesterday afternoon as some of the photo's I took are stunning, the weather today has been very overcast and much cooler only 25 degrees which has been quiet a pleasant change, have not seen any blue sky all day. Today it was off to the IGA to get some more provisions, fill up with diesel and check out the old Fitzroy Crossing.
